Hi *|FNAME|*,

Reserve Bank Governor Michele Bullock used her first RBA cash rate review to leave it unchanged at 4.10%.

This was despite the Australian Bureau of Statistics’ (ABS) reporting a rise in the annual inflation rate to 5.2% in August, from 4.9% in July, which was driven by oil and petrol, price pressures included jumps in the cost of food, housing and transport.

Weighing in favour of no increase is softness in consumer spending and there are first signs that consumers are dipping into their savings to meet increased costs.
ABS data showed the first fall in deposit balances since the GFC 15 years ago.
